Why the Tumbleweed Area? Tumbleweeds were chosen to represent our area because they move from place to place, are blown by the wind, and leave seeds wherever they land, just as we try to live our lives one day at a time, by the will of our Higher Power, wherever we are blown, without trying too much to control the outcomes.

Our area is also scattered geographically, and we hope that wherever a group of Narcotics Anonymous springs up, it will take seed and then help other groups to grow. We don't try to control things too much, and we are open to change.

Finally, tumbleweeds, like addicts, may not look too great on the outside, but wherever they come to rest, they stick. We need to stick together and help each other. Self-centeredness is our enemy, unity our mainstay. With sacrifice and fellowship we can grow, even in the scattered deserts of Utah.
